From: gnas_@_.edu Date: Tue Mar 2, 1999 5:28 am Subject: [rosacea] No More Hydrocortisone!!!!!!! To every member who uses hydrocortisone. Let me make something perfectly clear -- do not use topical hydrocortisone preparations. I do not want you to use the potent fluorinated hydrocortisone creams or the over the counter 0.5 or 1% creams. Study after study demonstrates that even the weakest cream has adverse actions within 72-96 hours of continuous use. I will explain in detail when I have the chance, but I continually see people mention the use of these creams and it sends shivers down my spine. It makes all forms of rosacea worse -- thins the supporting skin (dermis) and it thins the blood vessels in the face. This makes the facial blood vessels weak and leaky. This in turn allows blood to stay in the area longer and allows for some bouts of facial swelling. After you are finished reading this message, go to the medicine cabinet, gather your tube(s) of hydrocortisone, walk over to your window, open the window, and throw those tubes as far away as you can! Please Dr. Nase
