[rosacea] Seborrheic Dermatitis and rosacea noritate ketoconozle

Hello Cory,

Rosacea with Seborrheic Dermatitis is not a very user friendly combination.
Right now, there are wonderful topical treatments for Seb. Derm.. The only
problem is that most of these topicals cause major irritation to the underlying
rosacea.

First of all, might I recommend that you find a facial wash without alcohol (or
with minute traces). Spectroderm is loaded with alcohol. You might try one of
the three that I posted earlier -- Zia, Aderma, or Chamomile. In addition, I
like the ingredients in Dr. Sy's soap.

For the seb. Derm, the Aderma that I mentioned above has a very postitive
effect by itself. The major ingredient is an oatmilk (not oatmeal) -- seems to
sop up flakes with very little chance of irritation.

I also must stress -- do not use a facial wash cloth (in fact, everyone reading
this message should not use one). Do not use strong exfoliators or
microscrubbing beads or these new enzyme peels for seb derm. This may result in
initial improvement of seb derm, but it usually harms the underlying rosacea.

For unusually sensitive rosacea skin with seb derm. I highly recommend that
you find a compounding pharmacy. The secret is to get the active ingredients
from the seb derm medicines and put them into a non-irritating,
anti-inflammatory base. What I mean is that nizoral (2% ketoconozle), zinc
pyrithione cream or precipitated sulfur cream are excellent for treatment of
seb derm in normal individuals. However, with rosacea, these can cause
irritation. First, you will need to find a good, compassionate doctor who will
listen to you (preferably one who has extensive experience with rosacea). You
should get a prescription for one of the following:

1. Noritate cream -- Have the compounding pharmacy compound 2% ketoconozole
into the noritate. Make sure they pulverize the ketoconozole into microfine
particles. With this special cream you have a proven anti-inflammatory cream in
a non- irritating base with a powerful anti-seb derm medicine. I also
recommend that you add a drop of safflower or chamomile oil to the mix.

2. Noritate cream -- Have the compounding pharmacy compound 1% zinc
pyrithione into the noritate.

3. Noritate cream -- Have the compouding pharmacy compound 2% precipitated
sulfur into the cream.

Hope this helps,

Geoffrey
