However, several "mature" female patients w/ rosacea tried it on their own and informed me that the gel helped them a lot with their acne component as well as smooth their skin texture. That of course, got my attention and I was delighted to learn that from them. As you see, we derms don't know everything! BTW, the gel is not for everybody and it is important for rosaceans to use it at night AFTER applying a moisturizing barrier first. Sometimes, if skin gets a bit dry, cut down application per week, or discontinue for a few days or so. And, to order trial size sample first - this is the purpose of having samples. Basically, the ingredients in the AOCG is salicylic acid (anti-inflammatory, exfoliant which I found to be helpful to rosacea), a moisturizing gel base (to counter drying effect of the third component which is alcohol (dissolve oil, anti-bacterial effect). This last component is ironic, as conventional wisdom and publications kept warning rosaceans to about avoid alcohol in products at all cost. I believe that in this product, the alcohol evaporates right away, leaving the moisturizing gel to work. Hope this dispels your confusion.
