Hi Larry...
I was diagnosed with the same problem (rosacea AND s.d.) about 6 years ago.
For years, it seemed that anything that was prescribed to help the rosacea
irritated the s.d. and vice/versa. That is, until I came across this
support group and Dr. Nase's suggestions.
I did exactly what Dr. Nase suggests: I had my doctor prescribe Noritate
compounded with 2% Ketoconazole and it has worked quite well! You'll have
to find a "compounding pharmacy" in your area where they'll create the
mixture. I originally went to my local Walgreens (where I usually get all
my prescriptions filled) and at first, got a blank/confused stare from the
pharmacist when he read the special instructions on the prescription. I
guess many pharmacies don't have the special equipment to "compound"
medication. So I opened up my yellow pages and called around until I found
a pharmacy that can compound near me.
I would HIGHLY recommend that you check out Dr. Nase's suggestions on how to
treat rosacea with s.d. back on the website.
A couple more things- Hopefully, yourt doctor is compassionate and will
listen to you because (although he claimed he had extensive experience with
rosacea) my doctor had NEVER even heard of Noritate let alone this "unusual"
combination (Noritate and Keto) I was suggesting. Luckily, I talked him
into it!
I went the whole 9 yards and purchased Zia fresh cleaning jel (VERY
non-irritating) and Dr. Sy's moisturizing oil on-line. My routine is to use
the Zia to wash face, mix 1 drop of the moisturizing oil with the
Noritate/Keto combination and apply to affected areas. It has made an
incredible difference!
Good luck!
